The rural poor heavily rely on their local environments to provide basic necessities like water, food and energy. Thus, these vital resources provide the backbone of many rural livelihoods and their stability is key to securing the well-being of their entire communities. Food insecurity disrupts market access, trade and food supply while reducing incomes depleting savings and eroding livelihoods. This contributes to supply and importation of cheap and unsafe food products like the recent examples of cereals and sugar in the country.
Economic crises such as soaring food prices reduce real income, force the poor to sell their assets, decrease food consumption, and reduce their dietary diversity and access to safe and quality food.
This Summit will equip participants with knowledge on protecting people’s livelihoods from shocks, and strengthening their capacity to absorb the impact of, and recover from, disruptive events at County level. It is a necessary ingredient for food and nutrition security. The course is also in line with the first millennium goal on eradication of extreme poverty and hunger and the government’s big four agenda.
The event will provide a unique opportunity for attendees to develop partnerships, devise and fast track new opportunities and investment and ultimately drive forward donor funds and county resources for resilience and productivity of food by 2020, bolster the socio-economic and health of about a 40 million population, and mitigate harmful emissions.
The Summit offers the unique opportunity to engage with high-profile stakeholders in the agriculture sector, target new clients, and nurture existing relationships with county governments.
By uniting key decision makers and influencers in the counties to discuss opportunities and challenges for future resilience initiatives in water and food security, the event is the ideal platform for staying up to date with required solutions, understanding existing grant processes and establishing profitable and lasting partnerships. Sponsors also benefit from our extensive digital community through our effective targeted marketing campaigns, webinar platforms and lead-generation offerings.
